Kpop/Drama comes to Hawaii

benifit concert.
Article By Terry Hsieh
K Pop the shortened acronym for the popular Asian music culture from Korea, has
begun to make its way into the United States, through Hawaii.
Since the early 90’s, when Korean Pop music had just began to show promise
in the international community, K-Pop has risen to popular status and pop icons
such as Rain and Lee Hyori have gained foothold internationally. K-Pop icons are
heard all over the world, from Europe to Canada, with the exception of the United
States, until recently.
Many of the most famous K-Pop artists such as Tak Jae-Hoon, Jung Jae-wook,
Hawl and J will take part in a benefit concert at the Waikiki Shell in Kapiolani
Park in Hawaii, on March 10.
The organizers believe that Hawaii is a key player in the introduction of K-Pop
music into America, since many Korean immigrants and locals have mingling tastes
in not only music but media preferences.
A recent study shows a sizeable number of Hawaiian’s who regularly watch or
stay current with Korean dramas.

Full House In China
Full House 풀하우스 (Pool-ha-woo-seu)
Makes Debut in China
Article By Terry Hsieh
Since it’s release date in 2004, the Korean drama Full House 풀하우스 (Pool-ha-woo-seu),
featuring international pop star Rain and Korean actress Song Hye-Kyo has performed
particularly well in Korean box offices as well in as the rest of Asia.
Full House provides a passionate storyline set to the love lives of two unrelated
people, one a famous actor and the other an ordinary, normal person. The plot
goes through twists and turns as the lovers begin bonded only by their legal ties
as a husband and wife, and progresses as they try to work out their differences.
Both Rain and Song will promote Full House during a planned trip to Hunan province
in China, where they will take part in a fan meeting and hold a news conference
a few days before Full House is scheduled to air on local TV channels.
The significance of this scheduled visit serves only to strengthen the ties between
Korea and China, where a noteworthy number of Korean dramas and movies have become
staples of Chinese television viewers.
